Attorney Terrence E. McCartney

Attorney Terrence E. McCartney is a nationally recognized trial attorney with more than 30 years of experience representing clients in catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases across the country. His practice focuses on product liability litigation, including automotive and heavy truck crashworthiness, defective workplace machinery, and unsafe consumer products.


Terry has secured numerous seven- and eight-figure verdicts and settlements against some of the world’s largest manufacturers and insurers. Career highlights include:


  • Litigating one of the first airbag defect lawsuits in the United States.
  • Serving as New York State Liaison Counsel in the Toyota sudden unintended acceleration litigation.
  • Successfully representing clients in cases involving airbags, seatbelts, rollovers, and other crashworthiness defects.


He is admitted to practice in New York and California, as well as federal courts nationwide, and has appeared pro hac vice in many jurisdictions. Terry has been recognized as a New York Super Lawyer for over 20 consecutive years and is a Past President of the Attorneys Information Exchange Group (AIEG), a national organization of plaintiff’s attorneys specializing in complex product liability cases. He is also a member of the Irish Legal 100 and regularly publishes and lectures at legal conferences across the country.


Before practicing law, Terry served as a Marine Corps infantry officer, achieving the rank of Major. He remains active in veterans’ affairs and is deeply involved in his community in Rye, New York, where he previously served as an elected City Councilman. He also founded the Rye Boxing Club more than 20 years ago, mentoring hundreds of young people in the values of discipline and resilience.


Born in Hawaii and raised in a military family, Terry graduated from the Virginia Military Institute and St. Thomas University School of Law. He has been married to his college sweetheart, Julia, for 38 years, and together they have two adult sons.

Attorney Christopher J. Stucky

Christopher Stucky is an accomplished trial attorney focused on product liability, wrongful death, and serious injury litigation. After starting his career defending large corporations and insurers, Chris now exclusively represents individuals and families harmed by defective products, trucking company negligence, and corporate misconduct.


  • Secured tens of millions in verdicts and settlements for clients.
  • Known nationally for litigating heavy truck defect cases, including post-collision fires, rollovers, and underrun crashes.
  • Admitted in New York, Kansas and Missouri; frequently admitted pro hac vice in courts nationwide.

Chris is an active Board Member of AIEG. He lectures nationally on product liability and trucking defect litigation. He balances his demanding trial schedule with an active family life, often found at his children’s sporting and performance events.

Attorney Austin T. Osborn

Austin Osborn is a trial lawyer who thrives in the courtroom. Since beginning his practice in 2016, Austin has represented individuals and families in catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases nationwide, focusing on defective products, heavy truck and automotive crashworthiness, and corporate negligence.


In nearly a decade of practice, Austin has helped secure seven- and eight-figure verdicts and settlements for McCartney Stucky clients. Known for his preparation, presence, and attention to detail, Austin has earned praise from colleagues, opposing counsel, and judges alike. He has been recognized on the Super Lawyers Rising Stars list in both New York and Missouri/Kansas for the past four years.


Austin is also a leader in the Kansas City legal community. He has served on the KCMBA Young Lawyers Section Board of Directors for five years and received the President’s Award for Distinguished Service in 2021, the same year he was featured on the cover of the KC Counselor, with a profile authored by partner Chris Stucky. He will serve as President of the Young Lawyers Section in 2026. Nationally, Austin is an active member of AIEG, presenting on heavy truck defects and trial skills, and he holds memberships in the American Association for Justice, the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys, the Kansas Trial Lawyers Association, and the New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers.


Raised near Joplin, Missouri, Austin grew up playing competitive sports — a background that fuels his fierce competitiveness as a trial lawyer. He earned his undergraduate degree from Pittsburg State University (named Outstanding Senior Male in 2013) and his law degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Law in 2016.



Outside the courtroom, Austin and his wife Julia enjoy traveling, food, and exploring new cultures. A passionate sports fan, he supports the Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas City Royals, and Oklahoma City Thunder.

Attorney Rhett Wallace

Rhett Wallace joined McCartney Stucky LLC in 2021 as an associate attorney and has quickly become an integral part of the firm’s trial team. A former prosecutor with the Norfolk, Virginia Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office, Rhett brings extensive courtroom experience to his practice. As an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney, he tried cases involving violent felonies and serious misdemeanors on a daily basis. Today, he channels that same skill and tenacity into representing victims of defective products and negligent conduct from the firm’s New York office.


Since joining McCartney Stucky, Rhett has helped secure numerous seven-figure verdicts and settlements for clients. He has also taken the lead in helping the firm leverage new technologies to maximize trial impact, overseeing legal research innovations, electronic discovery strategies, and courtroom presentation tools. Rhett works closely with audiovisual experts, engineers, and graphic designers to create demonstrative exhibits and animations that make complex technical issues clear and persuasive for juries.



Rhett is licensed to practice in New York and Virginia and admitted to the Federal District Courts of New York. He earned his Juris Doctor from the James E. Rogers College of Law at the University of Arizona, where he focused on trial practice, and his undergraduate degree in History from the College of William and Mary, where he was a member of the varsity Men’s Swim Team.


Born into a military family in South Carolina, Rhett grew up moving across the country before settling in New York. Outside the courtroom, he enjoys swimming, golf, and exploring new recipes in the kitchen.

Michael L. Ihrig, II

OF COUNSEL

Michael “Mike” Ihrig represents individuals and families in product liability and catastrophic personal injury cases, including traumatic brain injury and wrongful death. He also has extensive experience in medical malpractice, mass torts, and complex commercial litigation.


  • Admitted in New York and New Jersey, as well as multiple U.S. District Courts.
  • Graduated cum laude from Duquesne University School of Law.
  • Handles cases involving unsafe consumer products, automotive defects, and severe trucking accidents.
